According to the Austin American Statesman, a man entered several unlocked dorm rooms at Texas State University Friday morning while women were sleeping and stole numerous items.
University police arrested 30-year-old Ernesto Chavez after receiving reports of a burglary at San Jacinto Hall early Friday. Responding quickly, police were able to take Ernesto Chavez into custody as he was leaving the dorms.
During questioning, Chavez confessed to two other break-ins in the area on Sunday. One at Dakota Ranch apartments where he is accused of groping a woman while sleeping and another at The Edge Apartments.
Chavez was booked into Hays County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
He is charged with one count of burglary of habitation with intent to commit a sexual offense felony one, three counts of burglary habitation felony two, and one county of burglary of a habitation felony two.
