WACO, TX — Waco's new Fire Chief was sworn in today.

Chief Gregory Summers was officially sworn into the Waco Fire Department.

He was joined by his wife, Jeanette, "in front of a small, socially distanced crowd."

Chief Summers was confirmed by the Waco City Council on March 17, 2020.

He will be Waco’s eighth Fire Chief in the department’s more than 100-year history and is a distinguished Fire Service leader with strong leadership and management skills with over 34 years in the fire service.

Gregory comes to Waco after nine years as the Fire Chief of the Little Rock Fire Department, leading them to achieve both ISO Class 1 and International Accreditation through the Center for Public Safety Excellence- a dual distinction held by only 0.29% of all fire departments in the United States.
