An off-duty Dallas Fire-Rescue officer is confirmed dead in Wednesday's fertilizer plant fire and explosion. Captain Kenneth Harris, 52, lived in West and went to the fire at The West Fertilizer Company to lend a hand. A 31-year veteran with Dallas Fire-Rescue, Harris was described as a "helper" at the scene. According to his father, Ken Harris, Sr., Harris was man who loved his work as a firefighter and never ran from danger. He is also survived by his wife, Holly and three sons.
