Jury reaches sentence of life in prison in punishment phase of Father Odiong sexual assault trial

The jury in the Anthony Odiong trial entered deliberations for the punishment phase Tuesday morning.

The jury set a sentence of Life in Prison for Odiong early Tuesday afternoon.

A jury has returned with a verdict of guilt on all counts in the 19th District Court trial for a former Waco priest accused of sexual assault.

Following an indictment in 2024, Anthony Odiong faced three counts of second-degree felony sexual assault.

Prosecutors have said evidence proves he fathered a child with one of his accusers.

Odiong served as a Catholic priest at St. Peters Catholic Student Center in Waco, and St. Mary's of the Assumption in West from 2007 to 2012.
