FORT WORTH, TX — A woman in Fort Worth was rescued after she reportedly passed a note at a Texas Department of Public Safety office that read, "I'm a victim of human traficin."

According to NBCDFW, the woman was applying to get an identification card on Feb. 26 when she passed the note to a clerk. The woman was then brought to a back office while a trooper took the man she was with, 23-year-old Austin Marshall, into custody.

NBCDFW said when the pair moved in together in September, Marshall became violent and began to threaten the woman. The arrest warrant said Marshall told the woman she needed to become a prostitute to pay for the rent.

The woman made about $1,000 a week and had about 10 regular customers, police told NBCDFW.

Marshall was later charged with compelling prostitution.
