Three people in the San Antonio area have been arrested in connection to a rooster-fighting ring.

Authorities seized more than 50 roosters after the Bexar County Sheriff's Office made the discovery.

"It does surprise me if worries me a little bit, but I feel if they're not harming anybody and they're staying to themselves we would have never known this was going on," said one neighbor.

The rooster fighting operation was hidden away and had multiple vehicles parked under trees with a constructed arena and several roosters caged away.

BCSO says when they arrived, several suspects fled from the area.

Deputies also found several pieces of rooster fighting paraphernalia, including several trophies.

Animal control arrived later to seize the roosters.

A woman says she has lived in the area for five years but had never known it to be like this.

"We come in and out of here all the time. This is the country. It's very quiet, that's why we moved out here.. So this is out of the ordinary."

Officials are still investigating, but have already issued 21 citations.
