WOODWAY, TX — One of Woodway's finest K9 officers has died.

The Woodway Public Safety Department announced the passing of one of Woodway's finest, Police K9 Gerry. His liver was failing.

After days of radiographs, ultrasounds, lab work and consultations, a difficult decision was made to "let Gerry cross over the Rainbow Bridge was made."

Throughout his four and a half career with the department, Gerry located numerous items of drug paraphernalia and helped recover over $11,300.

The department said they would like to thank the South Bosque Veterinary Clinic for the their time, effort and compassion over the years.

"Everyone who met Gerry fell in love with him, and his presence will be greatly missed not only here at the department, but by all of Woodway," the Facebook post said. "Rest easy, furry fella- we will take it from here."
