WACO, TX — Ms. Ethel Pimpton is celebrating 100 years of life and she couldn't be happier to celebrate with those in the Waco Community.

"Oh I love everybody, oh my I love people and I like to be around the people," Pimpton said.

As she celebrates her 100th birthday, Pimpton still drives and takes care of herself as she keeps her spirits high, following the Lord and being there when anyone needs her.

"Do unto others, as you would have them to do unto you. That's my favorite," Pimpton said.

Pimpton attends the Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, she has for more than 50 years. Outliving 4 pastors, their most recent took the job because of her.

"She was very instrumental in me taking the job," Pastor, C.J. Oliver said. "She said you know God is calling you here and I said, yes ma'am."

Her longevity is even being recognized by the City of Waco, issuing a proclamation and dedicating August 23rd as Ethel Mae Pimpton Day.

"When I look at her, and see her being able to get up every Sunday morning and do what's necessary I'm motivated by that," Oliver said.

Friends could only wave from 6 feet away for her birthday, but she still had a smile on the whole time as her heart was filled with love.

"I come to church, I do what I can, give everybody a big smile. I'm happy," Pimpton said.
