At least 2 people shot in the latest in string of shootings in Waco

WACO, TX — Waco police said that at least three people were hurt in a shooting in Waco Tuesday night.

Waco police responded to an incident near the 1200 block of Carter Drive. After checking the area, they found a victim with a gunshot wound in his right arm.

After they discovered the first victim, a second victim showed up at the hospital with a gunshout wound to his back.

After investigating police discovered that three victims were sitting in a car in the parking lot of 200 Lyndon Circle.

The victims told police that two men approached them and started firing rounds at the vehicle. They said the victim that was struck in the back attempted to flee, and he was briefly chased by the suspect.

Police said the third victim has not been accounted for. Police believe this victim was not hit by gunfire

Another victim said he ran away and then came back to the scene. He was shot in the arm when he returned.

Our reporter on scene said she saw shell casings on the ground and that about a half a block of the street was closed to traffic.

Waco police said that a large amount of narcotics was found in the victims' vehicle. They said that in several of the shootings within the past weeks, police have found evidence of drugs and the potential sale of drugs.

The police department has already received a grant to start a special anti-gang task force. They should be breaking ground on the new building soon.

On Thursday, a home was shot up twice within 24 hours. Shortly after the first shooting no Thursday, another shooting was reported hours later on Ethel.
