WACO, TX — The Waco Police Department Administration and Crime Scene Unit says they have been looking into ways to solve local crimes using security cameras that are owned by citizens and businesses in the Waco community.

"The difficult part of this task has been locating those individuals and businesses with security cameras, which takes officers going door to door after a crime has occurred and locate homes that have them," Waco Police said.

After researching different ways of making this task easier, Waco PD have developed a process to help identify places and locations that have security cameras facing public areas such as parking lots and roadways.

The link here now allows citizens and businesses to sign up and identify where their security cameras are facing.

The information in this link will be placed in a spread-sheet that will be used by Waco detectives to help them identify suspects that have committed crimes in view of security cameras that are present.

"For those that may be hesitant about signing up for this, the information gathered with this initiative will be a valuable tool for detectives to utilize for ongoing investigations. We as a police department thank you for considering this and look forward to continuing to find ways to better serve our community," Waco PD said.
