WACO, TX — A shoplifting case at Ulta Beauty in Waco is now connected to a multi-state theft ring investigation.

According to Waco police, this is now a federal investigation.

On April 2, at around 9 p.m., two women that were carrying two bags went into an Ulta Beauty at 2432 West Loop 340 in Waco. Police said the women loaded bags with $1,349.95 worth of products and left the store.

The Waco theft also matches the description of a similar theft in Temple. The theft in Temple happened on the same day an hour earlier.

Temple police said they stole about $11,000 worth of products.

Police said Ulta has a policy that its employees do not try and follow any thief.

They also said the Department of Homeland Security was investigating the case as a part of a multi-state theft ring at Ulta stores.

Waco police were asked to hold onto its case for documentation as part of a federal investigation.

The Department of Homeland Security said they estimate the theft ring has led to $2.1 million in losses.
