WACO, TX — An online petition has been started to require first year Baylor students to take a multicultural and anti-racism course.

"Currently Baylor does not require any kind of in-person diversity training, white privilege, or oppression courses for new students," said Caroline Mahaffey, the petition's creator, in the petition's description.

Mahaffey said this kind of course would "help students unlearn discriminatory behavior and actions and learn more about our country's true rich history."

The petition says diversity and multicultural courses should not only be offered, but required.

The petition met its initial goal of 2,500 signatures. The goal has since been increased to 5,000 signatures.
