MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX — The McLennan County Commissioners Court voted not to issue a county wide face covering mandate for businesses, instead "strongly encouraging" people to wear face masks.

It is strongly recommended that every business in McLennan County providing goods to the public develop and implement a health and safety policy that requires employees and visitors to wear a face covering when 6 feet of distance is not feasible.

Other mitigating efforts like temperature checks is also strongly recommended.

The Commissioners say this decision could change if cases continue to surge.

The Commissioners Court's decision to not mandate face coverings does not effect the orders of cities within the county.

Cities like Waco, Hewitt, Mart and Woodway have issued mask orders in the past week which are still in effect.
