HEWITT, TX — Two people were arrested for stealing from an elderly woman while they were watching her house.

In July, a 95-year-old Hewitt resident fell and was sent to to rehab. During this time, she contacted people to watch her home and feed her cats.

The woman was released from rehab in September, and when she returned home, she realized she was missing jewelry. She had descriptions and documentation to prove that she was missing over $3,100 worth of items.

After contacting police, police worked with the woman and her son to get more information on the jewelry. They were able to recover the jewelry at local pawn shops.

When police questioned the suspects, they claimed they had not been in the area for years. However, little did they know they were captured on video.

Police had obtained video of the suspects selling the jewelry at a pawn shop in the area. Warrants were issued for their arrests.

Michael Bonner Jr. and Canela Farmer-Bravo were arrested in Denton County for theft of the elderly.

Bonner has additional charges out of Tarrant County, and Farmer-Bravo has additional charges out of Hill County.
