A newly released arrest affidavit for Clayton Bruton has been released and shows the Crawford Police Chief deleted evidence off his phone, a third-degree felony.

On July 24, 2020, Texas Rangers initiated a criminal investigation stemming from sexual misconduct allegations made against Clayton Bruton.

On August 19, 2020, during a voluntary interview Chief Bruton corroborated key details about having sexual encounters with two victims.

Chief Bruton detailed he had several text messages from both victims on his personal cellphone stating that the encounters were consensual. He also admitted to having text messages on his phone from one victim that corroborated the victim's account of the story.

When asked about the location of the phone, Bruton stated the phone was in his patrol car. Texas Rangers stated they would seize the phone as evidence and would write a search warrant for the phone's contents to include the text messages.

When Bruton came back with his phone, The Texas Ranger stepped out to make a phone call.

When the Texas Ranger came back from the phone call, Bruton admitted to deleting porn videos and pictures of his girlfriend on the phone.

An arrest warrant was then issued for Bruton and he was transported and booked into the McLennan County Jail.

He has been released from jail on a $5,000 dollar bond.
