VALLEY MILLS, TX — People in Valley Mills came together to remember a Central Texas girl who died after contracting a rare amoeba.

At the Santa Fe Park in Valley Mills there were a lot of hugs, and tears. The vigil comes after 10-year-old Lily Mae Avant passed away early Monday night after contracting a rare brain eating amoeba.

Tuesday the community of Valley Mills held a prayer vigil to remember the young girl, with visitors all wearing blue, Lily Mae's favorite color.

One by one loved ones shared their personal stories that they had with Lily Mae.

Many people who didn't know the young girl or her family were still there to show support. By the end, everyone came together and blew bubbles into the wind, saying their good-byes to Lily Mae.

The funeral for Lily Mae will be held this Friday at Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney.
