KILLEEN, TX — Killeen Public Libraries have closed in the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19, but the city's librarians are finding ways to bring story time to children.

Killeen Public Libraries will provide weekly online story times on the City of Killeen Facebook.

The first installment will be available Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The premier episode will feature Miss Amy and friends at Copper Mountain Branch Library with two stories, a sing along, activities and even a craft to do at home.

Story time programming is aimed at children ages 2 to 7, but it is appropriate and enjoyable for all ages.

“Regular weekly story times are a treat for kids and a help to parents and can bring a little normalcy during these times that are anything but normal,” said Director of Library Services Deanna Frazee. “They develop literacy skills and foster creativity in young children, and we don’t want to miss the opportunity to provide this learning, even if from a distance.”

The first episode will be available on the City of Killeen's Facebook page on April 1.
