KILLEEN, TX — Dozens of kids geared up Saturday morning for the second annual "P.R.O. (People Realizing Opportunity) TRYathlon."

The event hosted by KidZ TherapEZE was exclusively for children with special needs.

"It has the three events of biking, running and swimming. And we modify each event to match the abilities of our kiddos. It ranges across the spectrum, but developmental disabilities," said Jessica Nadeau, occupational therapist, KidZ TherapEZE.

Nearly 200 participants, including 93 children and their volunteers, participated in the modified event.

“Last year I won third place. I’m going for second this year," said Ryleigh Picott, a 10-year-old who participated in the event.

“The triathlon is fun and great. I run fast enough," added Morgan Grandalski, another participant.

The first, second and third place winners received trophies and each athlete earned a completion medal after crossing the finish line.

Nadeau shared the event is all about promoting health and making sure her patients feel strong and successful.

"They are so busy coming to therapy and working on typical development, that this gives them the chance to feel successful and be a kid,” said Nadeau.
