KILLEEN, Tx — A good deed never goes unnoticed.

A 9-year-old girl is putting her sewing talent to use by making masks and donating them to essential workers and the homeless.

"They take a long time...a long time," said Ciana Calzado.

For two and a half weeks she has been on a mission in her spare time.

"My goal is to make as many masks as I can to give them out to the homeless and give them to the hospital and everyone around the world," said Ciana.

Ciana's mother initially thought this was a good hobby to help her daughter stay active while out of school.

"I thought it was a DIY 9-year-old project, but it turned into something much bigger than that."

It didn't take long for Ciana to realize there was a need for masks, and she was motivated to do her part.

"She has made 25 so far for the hospital so I took them and she puts a picture with them to kind of give a shout out and show people that she is supporting them," her mother said.

Ciana's mother works at an area hospital.

The 9-year-old says she wanted to protect her mom and others on the front line.

"Seeing people sick and going to the hospital and seeing mom work around sick people, so I decided to make these masks," said Ciana.

Her mother says she could not be prouder.

"I feel blessed to have a daughter who is very motivated to do this and she picked up on it quick. We are going to continue doing this as long as she is motivated and I am supporting her."
