WACO, TX — Texas Department of Transportation crews will be removing I-35 mainlanes over BUS 77 as part of the I-35 Waco Construction Project.

Beginning Jan. 17, the I-35 southbound frontage road will be closed nightly from US 84 to BUS 77.

Crews will also intermittently close eastbound BUS 77 from US 84 to I-35 and westbound BUS 77 from the I-35 southbound frontage road to Lincoln Street and under I-35.

Work is anticipated to be complete in early February and the lane closures will be in place nightly for the duration of work.

Signage has been placed to inform motorists in advance of the closures, and to direct them during this work.

To keep traffic flowing safely, the traffic lights at the BUS 77 and I-35 frontage road intersections have been set to flash red, and the intersection will be treated as a four way stop.

This work is in addition to the full closure of the southbound I-35 frontage road from the entrance ramp south of BUS 77 to Forrest Street that began Monday, Jan. 13 to allow for work on drainage features in the area. This closure is expected to be in place until Monday, Jan. 20 with local access being maintained via BUS 77, US 84 (Waco Drive), and side streets in the area.
