Man arrested, charged after leading police on chase in Marlin

A man was arrested and charged after police say he led them on a chase and was eventually captured in Marlin.

Officials say 32-year-old Christopher Jerome Peoples led police on a chase around 4:30 p.m. During the chase, Peoples hit a tree and wrecked the vehicle.

He then got out of the vehicle and ran towards a wooded area.

He was eventually spotted peeking out of the woods and was captured. He was arrested and taken to the hospital to get checked out before being taken into custody.

Inside the vehicle that Peoples crashed was a child. The child is now in the grandmother’s custody.

Peoples was charged with evading arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon in Dallas County.

He is now charged with evading arrest in a vehicle, evading arrest on foot, abandoning/ endangering a child and unlawfully carrying a weapon in Marlin.
