A former Corsicana ISD coach was indicted on three sexual assault charges months after a former student said that the two had sex in 2015.
The district said that Cody Grace, also known as Jackie Ray Grace Jr., 39, was employed as a coach from 2011 to 2016.
"Approximately two weeks ago, district authorities were notified of the allegations and turned the case over to law enforcement," said the district in a statement. "Student safety is the highest priority of Corsicana ISD and any allegation of impropriety is cause for serious concern."
According to an arrest affidavit, police said that a woman made an outcry to officials that Grace had an "intimate, sexual relationship" with a student.
The victim told police that in 2015, Grace began inappropriately texting and communicating with her. Grace was the student's softball coach.
Grace kissed and touched the student in a classroom at Corsicana High School. The victim told police that she and Grace had sexual intercourse several times.
Grace also facing three felony charges of improper relationship with a student.
He was arrested on Jan. 26.
