On Wednesday, Walmart announced it will be raising driver's pay next month, allowing drivers to earn on average $85,700 per year.
Walmart is increasing pay 1 cent per mile and additional pay for every arrival. Drivers will now earn an all-in rate close to 89 cents per mile.
In 2018, the retailer added more than 1,400 drivers and expect hundreds more to join in 2019.
Walmart will be changing up its onboarding system and revamping orientation to fill critical new jobs and cut time in half between a candidate's initial interview and a mandatory driving assessment.
