Houston Astros players headed to Killeen to give a veteran family a shopping spree at Academy Sports and Outdoors.

“It’s amazing that they take time out of their busy schedules to show appreciation to soldiers and veterans,” said Retired Sgt. Josh Moore.

Three young boys smiled as they met some of their favorite players. With $500 to spend, his son and friends filled up a cart.

“Watching these kids shop and smile, it’s just, oh man, just been a very fulfilling day for me,” said Josh James, Houston Astros player.

Organizers say the goal today reaches far beyond a spending spree. Instead, it is about recognizing a close-knit military community and inspiring our youth.

Houston Astros Caravan partnered with the Green Beret Foundation for the event.
