One pet-friendly organization in Waco is being recognized for its efforts to raise money for service dogs that will help our veterans.

Dogtopia in Waco was deemed a notable participant in supporting their namesake charity, The Dogtopia Foundation, as being a part of a fundraiser that raised over $140,000 to support the training of 12 service dogs through the organization America’s VetDogs.

Those 12 dogs-in-training will help veterans, active-duty service members and first responders with disabilities, physical injuries, PTSD, hearing and vision loss, and seizures to experience enhanced mobility and renewed independence.

"The Dogtopia Foundation's mission is to harness the power of philanthropy for the greater good and to enable dogs to positively change our world," said Jeri Kendle, Foundation Manager of the Dogtopia Foundation. "We are honored to have the opportunity to come together to support America's VetDogs and give back to the service men and women who have given so much for our country."

America’s VetDogs is a New York based organization dedicated to providing renewed independence to veterans and active-duty military members.

"America's VetDogs commends the Dogtopia Foundation's outstanding efforts in raising more than $140,000 to place 12 service dogs with deserving veterans and first responders with disabilities," said America's VetDogs CEO John Miller. "Dedicated and committed donors like Dogtopia enable us to further our mission to allow our nation's heroes to live a life without boundaries."

Other recognized locations were in Houston, California, Virginia, Florida, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Nebraska.

Dogtopia, the nation's fastest-growing dog daycare, boarding and spa franchise that spans over 80 locations, started Dogtopia Foundation as a way for dogs to positively change the world through funding programs focused around service dogs for veterans, first responders, youth literacy programs and employment initiatives for adults with autism.

This year, the Dogtopia Foundation will offer grants to non-profit organizations committed to providing service dogs to veterans and will continue to work towards every U.S. Dogtopia daycare center to sponsor a service dog.
