Temple police investigating theft at a church on Friday.
According to police, officers responded to the Our Lady Guadalupe Church on 707 S. 6th Street for a theft report.
The caller said that he believes $8,000 was taken out of the church’s bank account in a form of a check.
The caller contacted the person in which the check was written out to and was told that the money was used to update the rectory “Priest Living Quarters.” In addition, the other part was being used to help out a family who were members of the church.
After the call, the caller checked the rectory and with the family found no updates had been done, and no money was given to any families.
