Amanda Page said moving from Hawaii to Texas was an easy transition.

"There was a couple of other states in the running, but Texas has a lot of hometown pride. People who are from Texas, people who live here, they always state how proud they are to live here," said Page.

She and her family moved to the Lone Star State less than a month ago.

"It feels like home already even though we had the house built and everything sight unseen," said Page.

They are not the only ones who have made the move to Texas.

According to U-Haul, Texas remained the number one growth state for the third year in a row.

We spoke to the Mayor of Killeen, who also happens to be a real estate broker to get his take on the growth.

"I think the number one attribute as to why people are moving here to the local area is that affordability," said Mayor Jose Segarra.

"This was a great economic choice for us. The price was right, and it just everything fit together perfectly," said Page.

The rank as the number one growth state comes from a calculation of the number of one-way U-Haul truck rentals entering the state versus leaving the state during 2018.

"It's not just the state, but as local community leaders we have to stay ahead of growth, and sometimes it's a big challenge because you kind of have to anticipate that growth that's coming," said Segarra.

Page said she is happy to be a part of the transition.

"The day that we got here is the day that we closed on the house and it just immediately this whole area felt like home," said Page.
