The White House has directed the IRS to pay tax refunds to millions of people during the partial federal shutdown.

According to The Washington Post, during the previous administrations, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) said it would not pay tax refunds during a government shutdown.

However, the Trump administration lawyers ruled that the refunds could be paid after all.

President Trump has threatened to continue the ongoing federal shutdown for months, or longer. None of the decisions so far would have much of an impact now that there is a plan to pay tax refunds.
