Many resources helped to keep drunk drivers off the roads on New Year's Eve.
Thanks to the many services, like Tipsy Tow, Safe Ride Home, Uber and Lyft, the number of DWIs given last night from Waco police was shocking.
Only one DWI arrest was made Monday night in the Waco area, the driver drove off into a ditch but no one was hurt.
Waco police said they are more than happy with the outcome of last nights DWI arrests.
"Y'know public safety is really being pushed a lot more now and people are really starting to realize the effects drunk driving has not only themselves but their families and everybody around them," Officer Garen Bynum said.
Waco police say despite the low number of DWI arrests, they still had a busy night. They received 323 phone calls from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Police say out of calls... 170 were firework or firearm related.
