MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - A man is behind bars after he shot a neighbors dog, and pistol-whipped the dog’s owner.
Police said it appeared to be a dispute between neighbors.
Shaina Guttman told WMC Action News 5 her neighbor shot her dogs, then hit her fiance in the head with the gun.
She said it started when her fiancé, Lee Lakey, and a couple of their dogs walked by one of their neighbors in the hallway.
According to the affidavit, Lakey heard the neighbor say something as he passed.
When he turned around, 43-year-old Reuben Ballard was pointing a gun at him.
Guttman provided a cell phone video of the incident.
The video shows Ballard with a gun in his hand and Lakey is on the floor.
Police say Ballard hit the man with the gun before holding him at gunpoint.
“I was in the living room and heard gunshots fired. I ran into the hallway and my fiance was on the ground. My dogs were running down the hallway bleeding. My neighbor shot my little yellow lab three times in the chest," said Guttman.
She said both of her dogs were shot, one of them shot multiple times.
“I honestly don’t even remember what happened. There’s blood everywhere, bullets everywhere cops everywhere... pretty traumatizing,” said Guttman.
She also said her neighbor pulled a gun on them before when they were walking their dog and it barked at his daughter.
“He has a history. I guess he’s afraid of dogs, so he shouldn’t live in a dog-friendly place,” said Guttman.
No word if the dog survived.
Ballard has been charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to animals.
