Over a century ago, many German farmers immigrated and settled in the Copperas Cove area.

Between the years 1891 and 1895, they founded a church service that they conducted out of many congregation members' homes. In 1895, Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove was erected.

For over 123 years, the congregation has been conducting their service from Copperas Cove in English, but Sunday afternoon they had a very special service, held only once a year: the German Christmas Service.

In tribute to the founders of the land they worship on, and the people that began their church, they hold this service yearly, with fluent German Reverend Otto Brillinger.

Reverend Brillinger, a native of Lithuania, retired from the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove in 1992, but on Sunday he returned for his annual tradition of Adventsgottesdienst or advent service.

The annual Adventsgottesdienst has been a tradition for Immanuel Lutheran Church of Copperas Cove for almost thirty years, and they hope that it is something that will carry on in their history.
