A student was taken to the hospital after police say two classmates set off fireworks in the courtyard at Bryan High School.

Officers say the fourteen-year-old suspects were lighting the fireworks in the courtyard between Blue and Silver campus. Some debris from the fireworks hit a fourteen-year-old victim walking nearby.

He was taken to CHI St. Joseph Hospital where he was treated and later released. The boy suffered only minor injuries.

School officials and the School Resource Officer quickly identified the suspects. They were both taken to the Juvenile Justice Center. They are charged with assault causes bodily injury, which is a class A misdemeanor.
