A solar array is set to be constructed at the Leon’s Wastewater Treatment plant in Gatesville.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place Friday, Oct. 19 at 11:30 a.m.

When the array is completed it will provide over 311,000 kilowatts annually. In return, this will allow the treatment plant an estimated savings of $15,246.33. It will be constructed of ten dual-axis trackers that will allow the panels to track and follow the sun throughout the day to maximize the amount of energy.

This project is made possible by the $500,000 Community Development Block grant from the Community Enchantment Fund. Solar Sen Tex will be constructing the project while KSA Engineering serves as project manager.
