One person is dead after a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday.

According to the Department of Public Safety Sgt. Dave Roberts, at approximately 7:37 a.m. a two-vehicle crash occurred on Hwy 84, two miles west of McGregor. It was raining at the time of the crash.

The driver of a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound and the driver of a 2009 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound. The driver of the Camaro, 18-year-old Shelby Swinnea, lost control of the vehicle and traveled onto the wrong side of the roadway and hit the driver of the Ford, 52-year-old Tina Zimmerman.

Swinnea was pronounced dead at the scene. Zimmerman was transported to Baylor Scott and White in Temple for incapacitating injuries.

DPS wants to remind drivers that during inclement weather, drivers should slow down to a safe speed in order to maintain control of the vehicle.
