Beachgoers near the Fort Pickens area of Pensacola Beach were shocked to see a snake emerging on the shore on Tuesday.

According to the Pensacola News Journal, the snake emerged on the shore at 4 p.m. Beachgoers were shocked to see the snake there, so folks called for professional assistance.

The snake was estimated to be 3-feet in length and the crowd gathered around explaining that it was a diamondback rattlesnake.

However, biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission could not identify the snake based on the photo, according to the Pensacola News Journal.

Animal control soon came to the rescue and scooped the snake up and dropped it into a carrier.

A beachgoer said there were no lifeguards in the area at the time of the snake spotting.
