A Tarleton State University – Waco graduate student welcomed quadruplets to the world in May but intends on finishing her degree next fall.
Vivian Van Gorder and her husband, Chris, were planning on triplets, but daughter Grace surprised everyone.
“The doctor said, ‘Here’s a boy, and another boy, and a girl,’” Vivian said. “Then he said, ‘Wait a minute, we found another baby. A girl.’ It was like a movie.”
With three children at home, Vivian and Chris said they were in shock when they found out they were having triplets. Having Grace was even more of a surprise.
“The technician said it had been a long time since she’d seen triplets,” Vivian said. “I told her she must be drunk."
The Van Gorders were the first parents to have quadruplets at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest.
Now with seven children at home, Vivian doesn’t plan on stopping her educational goals.
“I’m not going to let the babies be a drawback,” she said. “I want to set an example for my kids. Just because I had these babies doesn’t mean it’s the end of my career.”
Vivian plans on graduating with her MBA about the same time she’s planning a birthday party for Erik, Tristan, Clare and Grace.
