A man was arrested and charged for assaulting a woman while he was holding an infant on Saturday.
According to Bellmead police, at approximately 7:46 p.m. officers responded to the 1200 block of LaClede Street to a disturbance call. When officers arrived on the scene, they saw 36-year-old Gregory Griffin trying to fight people while holding a baby.
The victim said Griffin was arguing with his mother when she stepped in the middle of the argument. Griffin was holding their infant child when he assaulted her. He put the victim in a chokehold and pushed her.
Officers observed the injuries to the victim’s face, chest and neck, but she did not want medical assistance.
Griffin was arrested and charged with assault strangulation and endangering a child. Before he was transported, he began to kick in the back of the car.
To prevent damage and self-injury, officers restrained Griffin for a safe transport. He then continued to refuse commands, according to Bellmead police.
Once he was restrained from kicking, he was transported to McLennan County Jail.
Griffin received an additional charge for resisting arrest.
