The Navarro County Sheriff’s Office located and seized a large domestic marijuana growing operation on Monday.

According to the NCSO, the illegal marijuana operation was in a heavily wooded area approximately 250 yards west of the Texas Department of Transportation Navarro County Safety Rest Area near Richland.

The marijuana field was located using a drone after an anonymous tip. A search warrant was obtained, and the NCSO Narcotics Detectives conducted surveillance operations for several days.

On Monday, deputies seized the field of about 10,000 marijuana plants in various stages of growth up to six feet tall. The field was about five acres in Southern Navarro County, according to the NCSO.

This was the second largest domestic marijuana growing operation that the NCSO has seized since June.

When deputies got to the field, a portion of the marijuana was already beginning to be harvested and processed.

The grow site was in such a remote area that a bulldozer had to be utilized to access the location.
