Beto O'Rourke made a visit to Hillsboro City Hall for a town hall meeting on Friday.
O'Rourke spoke on improving the ability for veterans to get proper health care and other earned benefits they need.
"Veterans without an honorable discharge also deserve the right to be provided health care services through VA hospitals," O'Rourke said.
O'Rourke also spoke on immigration, he said the situation needs to be handled with more humanity.
He spoke on political bipartisanship and how his goal is to unite the country.
Student debt is an issue he devoted a significant amount of time too. O'Rourke hopes to implement legislation that would allow Texans, who commit to working in in-demand fields and in underserved communities, the chance to graduate debt free.
After being asked a question on the topic, O'Rourke said he supports the abolishment of prohibition for marijuana.
He cited examples of individuals with severe medical conditions who use the drug for pain relief as opposed to taking opioids.
Democrat Beto O'Rourke is running against the current (R) Texas Senator Ted Cruz in 2020.
