A new list that studies state disaster preparedness found Texas is ranked last.

According to Gold Eagle, which specializes in protection and preservation brands from automobiles to boats found that Texas has issued 255 disaster declarations from 1953 until the present.  154 disasters were caused by wildfires, 36 by flooding and 21 by hurricanes according to FEMA data in the report.

Gold Eagle looked at four key factors, from the number of FEMA emergency declarations and state emergency budgets to infrastructure grades and number of National Guard troops, and ranked all 50 states on their preparedness for the next natural disaster.

The #1 most prepared state is Iowa.  The study also found that April is the worst month for disaster in Texas, and the state ranks #1 state most at risk for flooding and tornadoes.
