The Temple Police Department said scammers are spoofing their phone number.
The police department said people have claimed they've received phone calls from "IRS agents."
Police said in some instances, scammers have been spoofing the police department's phone number. Making it look like the call is coming from the Temple Police Department.
Police said some scammers are asking for information off the back of gift cards.
Police are urging people to be careful and not give personal information to unknown people.
