A Central Texas man is looking to be exonerated of crimes he was convicted of.

George Powell III was convicted in 2009 of aggravated robbery and sentenced to 28 years in prison.

The Texas Innocence Project believes he was wrongfully convicted and hopes District 27 Judge John Gauntt will determine if Powell deserves a new trial, should be set free or should continue serving his 28-year sentence.

The defense called a forensic video analysis expert and the prosecution cross-examined him at a hearing this afternoon.

A main point of contention is the height of the suspect, previous experts believe to be the robber to be anywhere from five-feet five-inches to five-feet-seven-inches tall. Powell is six-feet-three inches tall.

The hearing is in recess until Monday at 10 a.m.
