While Halloween is full of trick-or-treating, a lot goes into making sure the holiday is full of more treats than tricks.

While Victor Hulsey normally serves his community by putting out fires with the Temple Fire Department, on Tuesday night, it was about putting smiles on faces.

"We just did a community outreach kind of thing. We went out and just kind of visit with the kids in the community on Halloween and wish everybody a happy Halloween and hand out candy," Hulsey said.

The firefighters also handed out a reminder to be safe during the holiday by driving through neighborhoods with their flashing lights.

"There are people out there that are hopefully looking out for my children and so when I see these kids on the street whether they are just saying hello. They are someone's kids and the city has entrusted me to take care of their families so that's what I do here and I take pride in that," Hulsey added.

And whether that's fighting fires or taking the time to wish kids a happy Halloween, Hulsey always answers the call.

"It's rewarding in that regard. We help people that's what we do. no matter what the problem is, they call us, we show up, we help. That's what we do," Hulsey said.
