UMHB professor recognized with distinguished service award

A UMHB professor was awarded the Baptist History and Heritage Society’s W.O. Carver Distinguished Service Award.

Dr. Carol Crawford Holcomb, professor of Christian Studies since 1999, was recognized for her rare and unusual dedication to the cause of Baptist history through writing, teaching, denomination service, archival and library development and historical center and society work on national and state levels.

Dr. Holcomb has published articles in Baptist Today, The Whitsitt Journal, Journal of Texas Baptist History and many other publications.

From 2005-2007 She served as the president of the Baptist History and Heritage Society. In 2001, she was also awarded by the society the Norman W. Cox Award for best article published in Baptist History and Heritage Journal.
