Cobra pulled from toilet in Thailand

(RNN) - For the second time in two weeks, Thailand is the scene of a terrifying encounter with a snake emerging from a toilet in a private home.

Back on May 27, a man sitting on the toilet was bitten on the penis by a python.

This time it was a cobra. No one was bitten, but it was still a terrifying ordeal for the homeowner.

Rescue workers received an emergency call and went to the home of Polapat Laokamnerdpetch at about 10:40 at night, according to a June 5 report by PBS Thailand.

When the rescuers arrived, the snake disappeared back into the toilet. They poured insecticide into the toilet and waited. After about a half-hour, the snake popped its head out and they were able to capture it.

The toilet was connected directly to the sewer, workers said, but there was no mesh screen to keep snakes from slithering through the sewage tube into the house.

The 3-foot snake was put in a bag and taken to the snake farm at the Thai Red Cross office, PBS Thailand reported.
