Seth Kovar is returning home to Central Texas.
On Thursday Bruce Gietzen and Ann Harder announced Seth would be taking Bruce’s place as evening anchor.
Bruce’s last day as anchor is May 25. He will be heading to Waco ISD to serve as Director of Communications.
“Replacing Bruce Gietzen means I have huge shoes to fill,” Seth said. “Bruce is a veteran journalist who's well respected in the community. I'm going to pour my heart and soul into the job in hopes of earning a similar reputation.”
The respect between the two is mutual.
"Seth is an experienced journalist who knows Central Texas and wanted to come back here," Bruce said. "News Channel 25 could not have made a better choice, and he and Ann will do a great job leading the newscasts."
Seth spent six years working at News Channel 25, two as a reporter and four as anchor of Good Morning Texas.
“Getting to come back to Central Texas and News Channel 25 is so exciting,” Seth said. “I'm familiar with the area having lived here for six years in the past. A lot has changed in the community and at the news station, but it certainly still feels like home.”
Since he’s been gone, Seth has worked as an anchor in Virginia and news editor at CNN.
Starting on May 26, he will join Ann Harder anchoring News Channel 25 at 5, 6 and 10.
"I'm so excited to welcome Seth Kovar back to the anchor desk at News Channel 25," Ann said. "It's been several years since he was here as our morning anchor, and what a treat for him to be the successor to my friend and colleague, Bruce Gietzen. Seth brings a wealth of reporting experience back to Central Texas and will be a key component as we continue to deliver the important news and information of the day."
