SpaceX is planning to send a spacecraft to Mars by 2018, the company announced on Wednesday.
The announcement was made on Twitter regarding its Dragon spacecraft.
"Dragon 2 is designed to be able to land anywhere in the solar system. Red Dragon Mars mission is the first test flight," Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO, tweeted.
SpaceX also said the McGregor testing facility is crucial in developing the Dragon spacecraft.
