For months now, police have been looking for a man who fled the scene after ramming his car into a telephone pole in an attempt to hurt, or even kill, his girlfriend and two kids. He has been caught and is finally behind bars.
What started out as an innocent trip to a fast food restaurant quickly turned violent back on January 20. Joseph Rosas and his girlfriend took their two kids to get something to eat at a local fast food restaurant.
The affidavit states they started to argue because Rosas wouldn't get off the phone to order his daughter something to eat. Rosas got angry, and started speeding and running red lights as he made his way from Valley Mills Dr. to Richland Dr. in Waco.
His girlfriend tried to calm him down as he drove down the busy roads, but Rosas is accused of slamming her head into the window and telling her he was "going to kill them both", according to the affidavit.
He is then accused of intentionally running the car into a telephone pole, which caused a power outage and the car to be totaled. One of the children in the backseat was not wearing a seat-belt and was flung into the seat in front of her. She hit her head and got a bloody nose. The other child had no reported injuries.
Joseph ran away from the scene, but was arrested in May. He is now facing charges of aggravated assault, injury to a child and failure to stop and render aid.
