After months of investigating, Waco police are asking for help finding a thief who broke into 11 cars at a Waco repair shop.
In a blurry video posted on the Waco Police Department Neighborhood Services Detectives Facebook page, a person in a hooded sweatshirt is seen casing cars in the lot and breaking into one vehicle. WPD says the thief stole a stereo from one car but only searched through the rest of the cars for items left out.
"Of course you're always furious," owner Ken Luikart said. "It's a violation when someone goes through your cars, string to take things out of them."
Luikart said this isn't the first time this has happened on his lot. That suspect was later caught. He added his customers involved in the most recent crime were unhappy but still understanding about what had happened. Luikart's shop has since added upgraded surveillance cameras to the outside of the buildings.
He said he hopes this serves as a reminder for every driver to think twice before leaving items in parked cars.
"Whenever you park you car anywhere, anything like that, tangible, don't leave it in plain sight," he said.
