WACO, TX — Transformation Waco is recruiting talented people to train, educate and retain educators for Waco ISD. Those interested in the Transformation Waco Urban Educator Residency Program (TWUERP) have a chance to train through the alternate certification program, which also offers graduate education.

Hired residents have a chance to earn a starting salary of $49,000 and earn a master’s education at no cost.

Victoria Vasquez is currently enrolled in the program and sees how it’s benefited her in the classroom. She says, “Had I not been in the program, I don’t think I would’ve been fully prepared for what I was coming into.”

The goal of the TWUERP Program is to retain teachers for the benefit of their five Waco ISD schools, which were once at risk of closing.

Applications are open for those interested in teaching in Waco ISD. Requirements for the program include U.S. citizenship or legal residency, a minimum 3.0 GPA, passing scores on the K-6 or 4-8 content exam and a bachelor’s degree by the start of the program.
